VA Rep Education Stories
My daughter loved being a part of this past summer’s Pirates of Penzance Junior musical! Priceless memories and precious friends were made thanks to the wonderful education staff at Virginia Repertory! - Yasmin L.
“I attached a photo I am hoping you can use of my daughter, Arya, who attended the Dramatic Adventures camp over the summer. She talks about her experience at theater camp all the time and gets excited every time we drive by the building. She remembers the names of the staff and mentions how much she enjoys the activities and how she can’t wait to go back. As a parent, I was extremely grateful that she had the opportunity to attend and plan for her to attend other programs in the future. " - Ashley B.
Introducing my daughter to the beauty of theater was irreplaceable. Very thankful for the VA Rep’s devotion to sparking children’s interest in the world of drama! Please don’t let this end! - Lauren M., mother of Grace-participant in Dramatic Adventures July camp
“Elle will be devastated if we lose the Rep. She has been talking nonstop about wanting to go to camp again next year” -Parent of camper
I’m attaching a few photos of our boys, JP and Louie, enjoying the Stage Explorers camp over the years and shows at The November Theatre. We’ve always been so grateful for how inclusive VA Rep has been in welcoming our boys’ participation at camp and as audience members. Their experiences with VA Rep have instilled a love of theatre that has turned them into lifelong patrons of the arts! - Catherine R.
"It would be impossible to overstate how important VA Rep's education department has been in Eli's life. He started preschool classes there when he was 3, has participated in camps every summer since, stayed connected with online classes and shows through the pandemic, and had his first volunteer position as a junior counselor for the younger kids' camp. The teachers he's worked with have fostered his love of performing, but most importantly cared about him and allowed him to be his authentic self."
"Virginia Rep has been an important part of Kara’s childhood, from her first experiences seeing live theatre as a toddler to her first camp as a kindergartner. Even the pandemic didn’t slow down her great experiences, when she played Ms Cartier / the Billboard/ Napoleon in Flat Stanley, the zoomzical. The last two years, being cast in lead roles in the Summer Showcases, have grown her confidence, skills and passion for theater. She now has friends from across the entire Richmond area who support her and have accepted her as she is. This is the mission for a great community theater- awakening ideas, stoking passions and growing connections." - Cat, Brian and Kara F.
